Today seems like a good day to drink whiskey and listen to Hellblinki...

____

The Hellblinki Sextet... Broken tooth blues in a Tux, Choral fantasies for agnostic angels, peg-leg waltzes on the rim of Mt. Vesuvius,  psycho-cabaret, southern fried with guerrilla operatics, pirate-blues, infused with punk rock cinematics.  The Hellblinki Sextet is prone to suprise, tension, and dramatic release. Dark and experimental, Hellblinki combines elements of American folk, European cabaret, and punk rock experimentation into an intoxicating brew of transcendent madness...
____

Hellblinki is best described as "Three Penny Opera meets Sesame Street", with punk rock experimentation, guerilla operatics, and a southern drawl...
____

Established at the turn of the century, The Hellblinki Sextet has released three full length albums to date, ("Self-Titled Debut", "A Pirate Broadcast", and "Oratory")
____

Hellblinki combines European and American folk music, with punk rock experimentation and guerrilla operatics. They have been described as "Pirate Blues" "Dark Cabaret" and "The Dark Aristocrat of The Underground Movement"  The lyrics are philosophical, the tunes are odd and catchy, Hellblinki ushers the audience into a grinningly sinister world, not quite like our own.
____

Andrew plays drums, guitar (occasionally accordion), and sings simultaneously.  Valerie is the vocal force behind the beautifully chilling guerrilla operatics, plays melodica, accordion, and toy piano, along with other knic knacs, and various, assorted devices. Bradley plays bass and brings the funk.

____

Hellblinki has been introduced by James Brown on Television, accidentally murdered a live fish while driving a minivan, created a stage show with over 50 performers, multimedia, video, snow and staged it in a restored vaudeville theater in Augusta GA, has literally been passed out upon by an audience member on a moving bus while performing, has performed for at least one exclusive private preparatory school, played on as a man dancing in his wheelchair attempted to set an American flag on fire, which was attached to a woman's motorized wheelchair, as she was also dancing to the band, in a casino in Fargo ND, almost got in a great deal of legal of trouble for building the prow of a pirate ship on the front of their building (complete with a nude demoness figurehead) as part of a Halloween party, has released an Xmas EP (really) as well as three epic full length records, is getting a little weary of  so often being compared to Tom Waits, (though it's still an honor) and wants very badly to do a houseboat tour with lots of frozen drinks...
____

Old snake-oil medicine show meets Fagin's pickpockets meets Nightmare Before Christmas meets vodka-soaked gypsies meets... the two pirates that Captain Kidd got to bury his treasure before he shot them in the back and buried them along with the chest.

Odd, demented, bizarre, fun, and intriguing, The Hellblinki Sextet creates a world from found sound, pirate songs, dirty south blues, and experimental free jazz....
____

"if hell had a house band this would be it."
-Andy Stokes
____

"This band is the dark aristocrat of the underground movement that is occurring in our time. Regardless of its following and/or public success, it is a notable experience that makes me remember the feeling I get from listening to something that urges me to dream..."
____

"I was at your show this past weekend, and have to say that of all the shows I've been to in my life, your's was the most memorable...
All I could do was sit in the floor transfixed like a kid in a library for storytime."
-Calhoun
____

Hellblinki spawned full grown from the forehead of Shiva and represents the whole of the universe, laid out backwards in coffee stains on the passenger-side front floor mat of an olive green '68 Plymouth Fury, or perhaps in some other twisted dimension was born of a series of experamental recordings that slowly and painfully became the first record, and then, just before the turn of the century morphed into a live show, which in one form or another continues to this very day!
____

"WOW! Bizarre and macabre, this recording has it all. Super dark doom and gloom. Has a sadistic twinge to it. If you get the chance, go their artist page, and then click the link to go their website. They have an awesome flash page which has an interactive and freaky interface that blends some of their music together. Truly unique!"
____

"Hulloe, I recieved my copy of the self-titled debut and a t-shirt awhile back and i never got around to thanking you for the speedy delivery. The album itself is amazing, I'm quite enthralled by it's epic
perversity/brilliance. And thank you also for the live cdr that you included. I listen to it almost as much as the album, it's a frustrating reminder of what I'd have to travel all the way across the country to experience. Keep up the startlingly creative work. Your terminal fan,"

"...I also was particularly stunned recently by 'False Document' by the Hellblinki Sextet out of Augusta, Ga.  - total waves of ripping ambience mixed with circus music coming from around the block while you are falling  asleep on the sidewalk under a light rain.  I can't even say enough things about their website -  truly the best flash work I have ever seen..."
____

"hello, I heard rumours of a new album coming out soon? How is it coming along? Will I be able to pre-order a copy? I'm going crazy with anticipation! Thanks for your time"
-Michal Dinn
