Brilliant, sometimes biting and
always beautiful, this year's The 12 Bands of Christmas CD, titled
Volume Two, picks up where last year's project left off, polishes off
any rough edges, and emerges as a collection of locally produced tunes
suitable for musicians and the masses alike.

The standout track belongs to habitual scene stealers The Hellblinki Sextet.
Digging deep into the Christmas
archives, they offer a medley of tunes from the oft-forgotten Jim
Henson special Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas. Alternately sweet and
sour but always wholly original, the piece, in many ways, personifies
Augusta's music scene - a collection of acts, some represented and some
not, that might be one of this community's greatest gifts.
