The Hellblinki Sextet
Perhaps
best described as a punk-rock Three Penny Opera, Asheville’s Hellblinki
Sextet plays what it calls "simple music for difficult people." What
you should take that to mean, reader, is that the odd cabaret-rock of
The Hellblinki Sextet evokes Gogol Bordello, Tom Waits, The Minutemen,
Kurt Weill and Sesame Street in equal measure, creating an extrasensory
experience that’s been described, perhaps most astutely, as the
"soundtrack to hell." Sure, Ozzy might have introduced evil into rock
‘n’ roll, but The Hellblinki Sextet has never made the prospect of
eternal damnation sound like so much fun. Lamb Handler and New York
Disco Villians open. P. Wall Art Bar: 9 p.m., $3; 929-0198, artbarsc.com.
